Cheeseburger Bread Pudding

Inspired by Michael Symon’s Cheeseburger Bread Pudding Recipe I saw on The Chew and of course I had to put my own Momee spin on it …

I did ALMOST everything  just like Michael Symon- Iron Chef  only I cut a couple of Momee corners. : )

I love all of Michael Symon’s recipes, let’s face it the man loves to cook and eat meat and so do I. You can not get more American than a cheeseburger and combining it with a comfort food dessert to make it a meal your family will love.

The ingredients are the same as the one in Michael Symon’s recipe, only I added Kirkland Bacon Crumbles (from Costco) and I omitted the pickles because I am the only one in my family that likes them. But, please add them to this awesome dish as well.

Ingredients:

4 potato buns (torn into pieces or large dice)

1 pound ground beef

1 1/2 cups red onion (medium dice)

2 1/2 cupssharp cheddar (grated)

1 1/2  cup Kirkland bacon crumbles

6 Large eggs

2 cups whole milk

salt and freshly ground black pepper

1/2 cup pickles (to garnish)

Directions:

Step 1: Tear up your hamburger buns and put them in the oven drizzled with olive oil for 15 minutes in a 375 Degree oven

Step 2: While the bun pieces are toasting put the bacon in a medium heat saute pan for about 3 minutes and then place the bacon aside. DO NOT CLEAN THE PAN we will use it to brown the meat and the bacon juices will make it extra yummy!

I love the Kirkland Bacon Crumbles they are a huge time saver and add great flavor to any dish. I highly recommend ALWAYS having this bag in your fridge ready to use at all times.

Just add in the ground beef and cook till the meat is browned.

While the meat is browning add in your red onion. Cook until the onion gets soft.

Step 3: Pour the meat mixture over the toasted buns. As well as the bacon and cheese. Mix all these ingredients well together.

Unlike Michael Symon’s recipe I combined everything  together in one easy step. This was the I am super pressed for time Momee way and it turned out delicious.

Step 4: Whisk together in a large bowl the milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Pour the custard over the bread and gently press down.

*In Michael Symon’s recipe he says to cover it with plastic wrap and leave overnight. I am sure it tastes even better that way. However, I saw him make the dish and then I wanted it so I just ended up popping it in the oven to have it TODAY instead of tomorrow.

I cooked it in a 375 Degree oven uncovered for 50 minutes…until it was golden brown on top.

Michael suggests topping it with Pickles. I bet it adds even more flavor to this already yummy dish, however I did not add it to ours because majority wins in our house!

SERVE, CUT and ENJOY!

There was no left overs of this dish in my fridge We could not get enough.

From my Momee Kitchen to yours… Enjoy!
