We had the best time at the Long Island Children’s Museum in Garden City. It is always fun there but, this weekend we had a DINO-mite time checking out their new Dinosaurs Land of Fire & Ice exhibit. Have you been, yet?
The exhibit transports families back to the Cretaceous Period (145 – 65 million years ago), the time when dinosaurs last lived on Earth. Through interactive play kids and adults will have fun learning in this temporary exhibit that will be part of the Long Island Children’s Museum till May. Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice™ was created by Minnesota Children’s Museum and nationally sponsored by The David B. Jones Foundation.
You are able to learn about dinosaur fossils through educational displays,
creative art activities (like leaf rubbing and dinosaur tracing) ,
and of course the HUGE hit with all of the kids was The Big Dig area where they can use brushes and their own hands to search for fossils.
The kids loved all of the areas where they could climb and hide beside the Dinosaurs.
You can even dress the part and explore the Lands of Fire and Ice in an insect costume.
If you are looking for a great picture with some of your favorite dinosaurs there is a lot of fun photo opportunities, too. Say, CHEESE next to a Tyrannosaurus Rex or a Triceratops.

Museum Hours:
Open Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. during the school year. Open select Mondays during school holidays.
Open daily, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. July and August.
Closed during Fall Fix-Up, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.

***Momee Tip: If you are planning on spending the whole day at the museum pack a lunch and some snacks. There is a cafeteria area where you can sit and eat but, there is only vending machines. Make the most of your visit by bringing your own food and some money for the vending machines, if you like.
