About Simon & Garfunkel: “Old Friends”
In this unique 90-minute multimedia program, originally conceived and co-produced with the late legendary DJ Pete Fornatale, Tony Traguardo presents the story of the two kids from Queens who started their professional career together as ‘Tom and Jerry’. He takes us from the beginning to the present day with a fascinating story about the voices and songs that still delight listeners nearly 60 years after their recorded debut.
About Tony Traguardo
Tony Traguardo has been hosting shows on Long Island radio since 1982, has worked as a professional voiceover artist, and is a pioneer in the Internet radio industry. By day, Tony is a Librarian and Co-Programmer at the Port Washington Public Library. Tony is a music archivist and historian who has been collecting rare material for over forty years, and he has been presenting his multimedia lectures at libraries, universities and theaters for over twenty-five years. Tony also serves as the narrator for the legendary folk group Aztec Two-Step’s ‘Simon and Garfunkel Songbook’ programs. He also served as a long-time board member of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.

About Emmett Hughes
Singer-songwriter Emmett Hughes (Huntington, New York) writes and performs original songs featuring an eclectic mix of styles; rock, reggae, pop and singer songwriter, together with heartfelt lyrics.
A passionate creator and performer since childhood, he’s currently working on his next album, The Third Degree, scheduled for release in March 2024.
Emmett performs solo as well as with his band, locally in and around the NY metro area. Performances feature songs from his first album, Sixty Trips Around the Sun, (released in 2019), along with a debut of songs from The Third Degree.
In addition to being a musical mad scientist, he’s a father and spouse, a chiropractic physician, master gardener, intrepid sailor and sports a blistering tennis serve

Local Filmmakers Series: Maria Capp, The Lady of the Lake Film Screening
About “The Lady of The Lake: The Legend of Lake Ronkonkoma”
Based on the Native American folklore of the Princess of Lake Ronkonkoma, the movie was filmed in the actual childhood home of the Ronkonkoma-raised filmmaker, Maria Capp. The thriller uses the legend as the backdrop for a modern-day tale designed to resonate with anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. This film was also produced by Kristi Kilday, Jillian Pugliese, Anna Giglio, and Raffaela Capp, and casting by Liz Lewis C.S.A. and team.
Synopsis: Native American folklore says that Princess Ronkonkoma’s lover was scorned by her family because he was from an enemy tribe and therefore, took his own life. Now, her spirit remains in the lake, avenging her lost love by taking the life of any man who ventures into her domain. A young woman, grieving the loss of her brother to the lake, is determined to uncover the secret of this legend.

About Karen Bella
Karen Bella, is a NYC & Long Island-based performing and recording artist, who crosses genres in her songwriting, while having a strong foundation in the “classics.” Her hard work, beautiful voice, and experience with live performances, all attribute to turning all eyes and ears in the room to her when she’s on stage.
Bella began studying music performance and acting in elementary school. She started booking recording sessions by 9 years old and was writing songs at age 12. After college, she pursued music full-time, releasing her first album, Ordinary Girl in 2013, Karen Bella, self-titled EP (produced by Josh Dion) in 2020, and the single, “Rise Up,” (produced by Dion) in 2023, which currently has over 66.5k streams on Spotify. She continues to perform throughout the tri-state area playing such notable venues as the Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, the Landmark Theater in Port Washington, Great South Bay Music Festival and the Philadelphia Music Festival, Spotlight at The Paramount (opening for Hannah Wicklund) and is currently working on the follow up releases for 2025. In October 2023, Karen had a show-stopping performance at The Bitter End in NYC, with musicians, David Cook (who has worked with Taylor Swift, Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris, Emmy/Oscar/Tony winner Ben Platt, Shoshana Bean, Lizz Wright, EGOT-winner Jennifer Hudson, Kesha, Utada Hikaru, Halsey, NSYNC, Billy Porter, Joshua Bassett, Blu DeTiger Shayna Steele and many more), Josh Dion (Who has worked with John Scofield, Bill Evans, Norah Jones and many more), Teddy Kumpel (Who has worked with Joe Jackson, NIN and many more) and Brian Killeen .
From a recent interview, Bella expressed that, “I’m lucky that I get to share my love for Folk, Rock, R&B, Pop, and Country music to its fullest. My shows and albums represent these little chapters of my life and give the fans and audience a glimpse into my heart and mind. My goal as a songwriter is to have a positive effect on the listener, because music has been a miraculous coping mechanism for me, helping all of us to fight the sadness and anxiety that follow traumatic life events.”
Bella was named a Sam Ash “Spotlight Artist in 2019,” becoming an official Fishman-endorsed artist (2019). She was also a Yamaha Guitar Ambassador in 2022 and in the same year she became an Elixir Strings Artist. In June 2022 and April of 2023, Bella was chosen to perform at NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) in Anaheim, CA. She was nominated as Best Singer From Long Island 2023, by the Town of Bethpage. The self-titled EP, Karen Bella, charted #30 in the Folk Alliance International Charts and received commercial airplay in 2022. The single, “Indio,” charted #2 on the World Indie Music Charts in 2023, including more than 32k streams on spotify. She is finalizing her recordings that she has worked hard on the past few years for a 2025 release.

Participants will explore TeachRock’s unique approach to fostering active learning, meaningful discussions, and creativity in the classroom.
Designed both for music teachers seeking to bring more culture and historical context into their classrooms, as well as history and ELA teachers looking to enhance engagement through music, this course provides practical strategies to make learning more dynamic and relevant for all students.
