Long Island Children’s Museum Hosts LI Warriors For Special Hockey Clinic

Long Island Children’s Museum Hosts LI Warriors For Special Hockey Clinic On Sunday, December 14 At “Snowflake Sock Skating” Exhibit

The Long Island Warriors, a not-for-profit recreational hockey program and team for military veterans, active military and reserves, will be hosting a special hockey clinic for kids who want to up their sock skating game on Sunday, December 14 from 11am – 1pm at Long Island Children’s Museum.  The Warriors players will teach kids about stick handling and passing as they master wrist and slap shots on the LICM’s popular sock skating “ice.”  The clinic is FREE to ages three and up with Museum admission.

The popular Snowflake Sock Skating exhibit, in partnership with the New York Islanders, is a family-favorite part of LICM’s Winter programming that features a high-tech synthetic polymer surface that allows kids to enjoy all the thrill of ice skating, but without the runny noses or cold hands!  As part of this new partnership with the Islanders, the team logo will be displayed on the LICM “ice,” and kids will have a chance to win game tickets as part of special giveaways.  And now, thanks to the Warriors, they’ll be prepared for their own indoor hockey fun too.

Long Island Children’s Museum is located at:

About the Long Island Children’s Museum (www.licm.org)

The mission of Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) is to connect all our communities’ children, and those who care for them, to a life of wonder, imagination and exploration. At LICM, children discover their passions and their relationship to the world we share. The 40,000-square-foot museum serves over 300,000 children and adults annually. The private, not-for-profit institution chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, offers museum-based educational programs and cultural experiences, as well as an extensive community outreach program offered in schools, libraries and youth centers across Long Island. Additionally, the Children’s Museum operates the historic Nunley’s Carousel in association with Nassau County, one of three intact Stein & Goldstein carousels still in existence.

Recognized with several honors, including the National Medal from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), LICM is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the gold standard of museum excellence. It is currently the only accredited children’s museum in New York State and is one of only 16 accredited children’s museums nationwide.
