Want to buy a reptile to become part of your family?
What reptiles would suit young families best?
I visited the coolest place on Long Island to seek the answers to these questions.

According to Jungle Bob from Jungle Bob’s Reptile World these are the best reptiles for kids ages 3 and up.

Bearded Dragon

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED LIZARD!

These guys are so cute and super friendly! I love them and could play with them all day.

A bearded dragon will not bite and is so cool to have.

What they eat:  Bearded dragons are omnivores so they eat crickets, worms, insects and veggies.

Here is a picture of one of the babies eating a cricket in the picture below.

Growth:  They grow to be about 18 inches long and for your adult size bearded dragon you will end up with a 40 gallon tank.

*They are easy to clean up after*

Ball Python:

The best snake for young families. I loved this snake so much and when we get a snake in the future this is the one I will be adding to our family.

There are all types of Ball Pythons in colors and sizes. Above Jungle Bob and I are holding a piebald python they are easy to handle and are beautiful to look at.

What makes it a piebald is its varying patches of white (seen by the tail in the picture below).

Pictured below is a normal Ball Python

What they eat:  Ball Pythons as babies will eat small mice and as they grow they will eventually eat large mice or a small rat.

You only have to feed a snake once a week so they generally only poop once a week. Easy to clean up after!

Growth: they reach their full size in about 3 to 4 years

Lifespan: 20+ years

Price: from $39.99

Corn Snakes

Another easy snake to have for beginners!

They are beautiful to look at and they come in different colors. They have a little more energy than the Ball Python but are a great pet as well.

At Jungle Bob’s they will be able to tell you if you are buying a male or female and the staff is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have.

I highly recommend Jungle Bob’s Reptile World and so will you. Their staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. They truly love the reptiles and keep the store super clean.
