Fit Pregnancy Workout Moves

Happy Friday! I want to share with you all some exciting news here at our house – I am pregnant with baby #2! I am a few weeks into my second trimester, and I have seriously enjoyed leaving the exhaustion and morning sickness behind with the first trimester. I felt as though I was hibernating for the last 2 months, but with all of the new energy that has kicked in over the last few weeks I have been able to get back into my fitness routine.

When I lived and worked in the city I started running. In the beginning I wasn’t particularly fond of running, but it was the most convenient way I could fit exercise into my unpredictable day. After a few months, I began to enjoy it, and a few months after that, if I missed more than a day or two, I craved it. When I found out I was pregnant with Sloane I continued running, up until around 6 months when the bouncing and pounding became to uncomfortable on my growing belly and joints. I did continue to walk around 3 miles a day, not because I was so motivated, but because that was my commute from the train station to and from my office. I also did yoga throughout the entire pregnancy, and I think all of these forms of exercise helped both in labor and childbirth, as well as with getting my body back after Sloane was born.

Valentine’s Day 2018- It is the thought that counts…

As my girls get older and I realize that time really does fly when you are a parent, I never believed it until I have seen for myself how quickly our kids grow and you want to hold onto every moment just a little bit longer.

My husband and I are so blessed to have two beautiful girls who truly love each other so much. They show each other how much they truly love one another by doing the little things like; making cards for one another, getting a band-aid when their sister has a boo-boo, or getting a snack for their sister when they get one for themselves. They might make each other cry at times and argue (what siblings don’t fight?) but, in the end they are each other’s best friends and ours, too.

Dinosaur Fun at the Long Island Children’s Museum

We had the best time at the Long Island Children’s Museum in Garden City. It is always fun there but, this weekend we had a DINO-mite time checking out their new Dinosaurs Land of Fire & Ice exhibit. Have you been, yet?

The exhibit transports families back to the Cretaceous Period (145 – 65 million years ago), the time when dinosaurs last lived on Earth. Through interactive play kids and adults will have fun learning in this temporary exhibit that will be part of the Long Island Children’s Museum till May. Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice™ was created by Minnesota Children’s Museum and nationally sponsored by The David B. Jones Foundation.

Meal Planning and Prepping

You know the people who love to cook and experiment in the kitchen? That is not me. I wish it was. I am always a little envious of the people who talk about cooking like it is therapy. I love the idea of going into the kitchen and starting with a recipe as a base, and then making it my own with different seasonings and spices, but in reality I like to get in and out of the kitchen as quickly as possible.

I also like to wait until I am already hungry to start thinking about what I want to eat, or at least I used to until I realized that 1). waiting until I am hungry to start thinking about what to eat leads me to make less-than-healthy decisions and 2). planning ahead makes life a lot easier with a toddler in the house.  This realization is what made me start thinking about meal planning and prepping.

World Read Aloud Day

I was chatting with my Momee Friend, Dawn after we picked our girls up from nursery school and she reminded me that today is, World Read Aloud Day!

World Read Aloud Day is a celebration. It is about reading just for the fun of it!

Reading is one of our favorite family activities. At night before the girls go to bed my husband and I make sure we all spend the last 30 minutes of the day reading together all snug in our comfy pajamas and relaxing TOGETHER reading some of our favorite books. I highly recommend trying to implement this time into your daily routine.
