Southampton Arts Center is delighted to present Contained Movement, an exhibition of contemporary outdoor sculpture in the newly renovated Paulson Family Gardens of the Southampton Arts Center, with works on loan from the Leila Heller Gallery and Room 57 Gallery. The exhibition opening will take place on July 25^th at 5:00 – 7:00 pm. 

Contained Movement brings together works by Kiki Smith, Richard Hudson, John Clement, Mia Fonssagrives Solow, Rachel Lee Hovnanian, Katya Emelyanova, Anton Bakker, Arthur Carter, and Leo Orta, each exploring this theme. From mirrored steel and painted aluminum to bronze, ceramic, and fiberglass, the exhibition examines how material can evoke tension, transformation, and quiet energy, inviting viewers to experience sculpture as a moment suspended between stillness and motion.

“It was so exciting to explore our new garden and find the exact, proper placements for these truly amazing works of art. They fit in nature and enhance the natural beauty around them.”, says Christina M. Strassfield, Executive Director of SAC.  

Admission is free and open to the public.
