Taste Buds Kitchen has opened their doors in Smithtown , NY and they offer cooking classes for all ages. My daughter and I visited last Wednesday night, and we cannot wait to go back, again. My daughter is a teen who loves to be in the kitchen and after attending the first teen class in their teen cooking series (for ages 13 to 17), she looks forward to attending this class again with instructors Katie and Daniel.
The teen cooking classes are a great way for your kids to learn basic cooking skills and delicious recipes for them to recreate at home. My fellow parents, how amazing would it be to have your teen say; “do not worry I will make dinner tonight?” And extra bonus points for the child who says, they will do the dishes too. All kidding aside, this is a life skill all kids should know how to do and the instructors at Taste Buds Kitchen will make learning these skills fun to learn. The best part is that the instructors are there to assist the kids, so the execution of a great tasting dish is accomplished which will help boost your child’s confidence in cooking, as well.
The first class was Gnocchi & Cinnamon and Sugar Donut Bites. The kids learned how to make gnocchi from scratch along with a delicious tomato sauce (that my daughter raved about and cannot wait to make at home). Instead of adding sugar to the tomato sauce, instructor Katie had the kids grate a large carrot that they added to cut the acidity of the tomato and add some natural and healthier sweetness. She can not wait to make this sauce for our Sunday dinner, this week. And what parent doesn’t love the idea of our kids incorporating more vegetables into their meals?
For dessert the kids made a cinnamon and sugar donut bite that came out so good. Everyone in our family got to eat one she brought home and we are excited to make them, again.
At the end of the two hours class all the kids sat with their peers at their tables and not only enjoyed the food they made but, got to talk about their experience making the food they were enjoying. I asked all the kids what they thought of the meal they made and they all said how delicious it was. I would say that the first night’s menu was a hit amongst all the teens who attended. Before the kids left they packed up their leftovers so they could share with their family at home.
Classes coming up in this teen cooking series are:
9/16/2026- Sushi & Vegetable Dumplings
9/23/26- Chicken Ramen Bowl and Ramen Noodles
9/30/26- Tacos & Guacamole and Mexican Hot Chocolate
10/7/2026- General Tso’s Chicken , Fried Rice and Green Tea Sugar Cookies
When you register for any of the classes at Taste Buds Kitchen, the featured recipe is emailed to you so you can add it to your recipe book at home. Imagine all the fun you will have by attending classes and then adding recipes you love to your dinner recipe line-up. I know I look forward to heading back and learning more from the wonderful instructors at this location.
We wish the wonderful owners, Cesar Del Carpio and Ximenia Del Carpio much success in their new venture and continued prosperity for many years to come.
