Showcase Cinemas has a great incentive for kids to read throughout the summer.
Every Wednesday from July 5th to July 26th, Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas and Island 16 Cinema De Lux presents Bookworm Wednesdays, a rewarding program designed to encourage summer reading. Kids who bring a book report (downloadable on Showcase’s website and available at a participating box office) to a select family film each Wednesday in July will receive free admission! Adults and children under the age of six who accompany a qualifying participant will also receive free admission. Children who wish to participate but are not yet reading on their own are encouraged to draw a picture about a story an adult has recently read to them.
On Tuesday, June 20th at 7pm, Island 16 Cinema de Lux will host a special advance screening of Transformers: The Last Knight in XPlus 3D. Guests who purchase tickets to the 7pm screening will receive a free collector’s t-shirt and small popcorn while supplies last and will enjoy “Bargain Tuesday” discounted admission!

We live in a world that is unpredictable and can be very frightening to children. They are bombarded with negative images everywhere and they can even develop fears by simply observing how their parents are affected by every day stress. It sounds a bit ominous, but fear itself is not entirely all bad.
Anger is a very strong emotion which everyone exhibits, and when left unchecked, it can lead us to do very destructive things. Such is the case for Riley in the movie, Inside Out. Anger is the 3rd emotion or character that emerges when Riley’s Dad tells her that she cannot have dessert if she does not eat her broccoli. Enraged, Anger explodes and the young Riley has a meltdown.
