In the United States, there are approximately 7.6 million pets in shelters and even many without a home. Each year around 3.2 million pets are rescued and find their fur-ever home, while the others are left without the proper love and care needed.
Save a Pet in Port Jefferson Station, a non-kill, non-profit animal shelter, is teaming up with Lynx-NYto help these animals in need. We are proud to announce, we will be hosting a fund raiser at LI Pour House in Port Jefferson Station, with the goal of raising funds to support the Save a Pet Animal Rescue, and in addition match families and pets together with an onsite adoption option!
Come join in on the fun! We will be having a raffle, DJ, face painting, family activities and so much more.

There is, that adorable face wrapped up with a big red bow. This is the gift that probably made someone the best parent in the world, or maybe this was the promise of commitment from the most loving caring significant other. Or perhaps it was the gift of joy and companionship to an elderly or lonely relative. That’s wonderful, who wouldn’t be thrilled? The questions now that the tree is down and everyone is back to their regularly scheduled lives, what do we do with this puppy?
Each month we are going to feature a different Community Helper here on Long Island. They will teach us about what they do for our community and we will have fun activities for you to do related to their occupation.
Michael Schaier is not only a local Long Island author but he is also the owner and head certified professional dog trainer ofMichael’s Pack. “To all who are genuine dog lovers, the animals are far more than cute and cuddly creatures: they are our children. And deserve that designation as much as any other children we may be blessed with.” Dogs are Children Too!and that is the training method Michael uses each day.
Michael has recently released his latest book,What Can You Expect When You Are Expecting A Puppy.Michael wrote this book because as a professional dog trainer many of his clients would bring home a puppy and he found that a lot of their questions were the same. He then took all of those questions and put them into a resourceful and easy to read book that any new dog owner will be happy they purchased.
