I’m handing out magic pills for the healthiest pregnancy possible. They come in a pack of 8, each a different variety, and all super potent! Now don’t fall into the trap of gulping them down and tapping your fingers while you wait for the magic to be released. That would be like starting a marathon at the finish line. You will completely cheat yourself out of the steps it takes to free the moxie from these potions. The work you put in to get those suckers digested is where the power and effectiveness lie, and it is so worthwhile!
Let’s take a spin on the Pregnancy Wellness Wheel to understand more about each of the 8 spokes that represent the coveted effects of those magic pills, and how they should be dispensed. Get excited for the possibilities! If you put in the effort, the results will be undeniable. (Sidenote: What comes out of this will last way longer than the 40 weeks or so of pregnancy.)
My good friend, Dawn and I had the most amazing and relaxing morning with fellow Momee Friend, Melissa of Inner Lotus Healing. This was our first Reiki experience and not our last. It was the most incredible experience and I look forward to my next session. Having a chakra balance was something we did not realize we needed and now that we have I know I will continue to do so.
Think back to when you were a kid. What did Friday night mean to you? In my house it meant PIZZA NIGHT! I can remember playing at friend’s houses after school, my mom coming to pick us up, and stopping on the way home to pick up a pizza and garlic knots from our favorite pizza place.
Pizza is one of those comfort foods that is hard to beat. Hot, cheesy, and with all of your favorite toppings, what more could you ask for? Well, maybe you could ask for a healthier crust. And that’s what I have for your here today! Two of my favorite healthy pizza recipes so you can have your cake (or in this case, pizza) and eat it too!
Raise your hand if you are struggling through bedtime this week?! I love the longer days, but this week has me questioning whether that love is enough…Sloane has been waking up at her normal time, which I thought would mean she would be going to sleep on schedule, boy was I wrong! Bedtime has been a fight involving lots of tears and hysterics. So, after about a week of these stressful nights, this mama needs to recharge.
So often when we think about health we think in terms of nutrition and exercise, but equally, if not more important is our mental and emotional well-being. As moms it is so easy to make this, our mental health, a low priority on the long list of people and things we take care of. However, as the saying goes “you can’t pour from an empty cup”.
Is anyone else having trouble believing we are in the last few days of 2017?! This year flew by and to be honest, I’m a little sad to see it end. 2017 was a year of ups and downs, but with that came a lot of growth and learning, and exciting new opportunities. I’m excited to see what 2018 will bring.
With the new year comes New Year’s Resolutions. I love to spend some time on New Year’s Eve really thinking about my goals and what I want to accomplish in the coming year. Creating those resolutions is always so exciting – I feel so motivated and energized, like I can do anything. And I hold onto that feeling for the first few weeks, maybe even a month or two, but then it starts to taper off…sound familiar?
While this time of year is fun and exciting, I think us mamas also find there is a certain level of stress that comes along with it. We are so busy making sure everyone is going to find what they asked for under the tree, baking for the classroom and holiday parties, attending school plays and recitals, it can be really easy to forget to take care of ourselves. Who else finds that the stresses from the day hit hardest right at bedtime? As soon as I close my eyes and lay my head down, my mind goes into overdrive – making lists and remembering all of the things I should have gotten done during the day, but didn’t get to.
When I feel the stresses from the day are going to affect my sleep, I have a bedtime yoga sequence that I turn to. This yoga sequence can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes, or more if you choose to spend more time in the poses, but even after 5 minutes I’ve found the tension is released from my mind and body, and I can go on to enjoy a peaceful slumber.
The day after Thanksgiving is full of relaxation, shopping, and lots and lots of leftovers! My fridge is filled to the brim with leftover turkey, stuffing, potatoes, all that good stuff. Does anyone else plan how much food they are going to cook to make sure there are plenty of leftovers to go around?
Lunch the day after Thanksgiving was always my favorite! I would make a big open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey, and whatever else looked like it would be tasty on there.
