My daughter just like every other child is obsessed with Frozen! She loves Princess Elsa.
I was excited to make a Frozen wreath for her bedroom door for the holidays.
(But, I will probably keep it up year round since she will demand it stay up!)
For this craft you need :
12 inch Styrofoam Wreath, White Yarn
30″ x 20″ Cardboard Poster board
Blue Glitter Acrylic Paint
Yellow Acrylic Paint
Dark Blue Acrylic Paint
Cardboard
Plastic Snowflake Ornaments
Glitter (white and silver)
Scissors
Paintbrush
Hot Glue Gun
Directions:
Wrap the white yarn around the wreath. Make sure when you are wrapping you keep the yarn close together and tight so you cover the wreath completely.
Take a 30″ x 20″ cardboard poster board (it is a good length for an Elsa Braid) and wrap the yarn around 30 times.
Do this three times and this is what you will have for the braid. (shown below)
Then, cut the bottom of each yarn loop (shown below) and hang them separately on the wreath.
Now, it is time to braid Elsa’s “hair”.
Now, it is time to make Elsa’s crown on the cardboard that you have. Measure how big your crown should be from the braid to the end of the wreath. I drew the crown freehand but, I included a free printable below from my sister’s suitcase blog.

Once, you have made your crown, paint it white, then yellow and add glitter to it.
Paint the gem blue and add glitter to that too.
Using your blue glitter paint, brush on the paint as much as I did in the picture below.
Using the same acrylic paint, make your snowflakes the light and dark blue seen below.
Once, the crown and snowflakes are dry it is time to hot glue them in place.
The wreath is complete and ready to be hung on your child’s door.
When I gave it to Mia she knew right away it was Elsa. And she loved it.
Whenever I do a craft or a drawing I always ask my 3 year old (they are the most honest!) what it is. If she gives me the answer I was looking for I know it was successful. : )
