Tips to Protect You and Your Family in the Time of COVID-19

The governments are working desperately to find out a cure for the COVID-19 virus, especially since there is an increasing number of cases around the world. While the vaccine is awaited with anticipation, there are simple actions you can take meanwhile which may assist you in protecting yourself and your family from catching this deadly disease.

Here are some tips on what to do.

Basic Steps to Take

If you are unsure of what you should do, and how can you keep you and your family safe, start from this. There are numerous preventive tips out there that can be used in the fight against COVID-19. These are basic ones that can be used as an example:

*First and foremost, avoid anyone who has symptoms of cold or flu and is coughing.

*In case that you are sneezing or coughing, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or an elbow.

*Clean your household phones, taps, doorknobs, and light switches with disinfectant fluids.

*If you have to go out, it would be wise to wash your hands on return with soap or alcohol-based sanitizers.

Wear a Face Mask Outside of Your Home

Wearing a face mask or any sort of mouth and nose protection during the pandemic is more than advisable. For instance, if you have any problem which is connected to the respiratory system, like sneezing or coughing, the mask is a means which can stop the spread of infection. Usually, people may wear masks of different types. They can be regular bandanas, masks made out of cloth either at home or have been bought, disposable surgical masks, n95 masks, or ones that are simply made out of a t-shirt. Whichever you decide to wear is on you. Have in mind though, that each has its own properties and function. With that being said, by wearing one in public, you will minimize the chances of getting sick and thus protect your family members as well.

Social Distance is the Key

The simplest way to prevent the virus from spreading is to just stay home and practice social distancing. Sure there are some jobs that do not allow work from home since it is impossible, but keeping a distance from social interaction as much as possible will make the spread of COVID-19 to its minimum.

In a situation where you can stay at home, it would be recommended to do so. Even if it may not sound like fun, there are many activities you and your family members can take part in and keep yourselves busy.

For instance, you could do games at night or each can work on a skill that they wanted to develop but never had time to do so before.

It is unfortunate, but the lives of people will have to be a little bit different than normal until the proper vaccine is found. By doing these simple things, you and your family will be protected until the bright future comes. In the meantime, stay safe and do not despair, pandemic can not last forever.
