History of the Fair:
“Founded in 1841, The Agricultural Society of Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties, one of the oldest agricultural societies in the US, initiated its first fair in 1842, originally known as the Queens County Fair. By 1866, it settled permanently in Mineola on Old Country Road and Washington Avenue. Over the years, the fair underwent name changes from Queens County Fair to Mineola Fair after Nassau County was formed in 1899. It later relocated to Roosevelt Raceway in 1949, and in 1970 found its current home at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, becoming the Long Island Fair. The fairgrounds are a recreation of the original, including the iconic Exhibition Hall which was completed in 1995. “
