Summer Reading 2025 Perks for Kids

We love to read all year long and in the Summer we have even more time to read the books we love since there is less of a routine since school is out for the summer months.

Reading is always rewarding but, we are excited to share with you how your child(ren) can be rewarded for their Summer Reading this summer.

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Free Book Giveaway

“This summer, kids in grades 1-6 earn a FREE book through the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program. Read any eight books and record them in your Summer Reading Journal. When you’re done, bring it to a Barnes & Noble store and choose your free book!” Redeemable 7/1-8/31.

Second-Lady-Summer-Reading Challenge

Our Second Lady, Usha Vance is inviting children (K-8) to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge. Participating is simple—children just need to read 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 5 and submit their completed form to receive a personalized certificate and a small prize. There will also be a drawing for one lucky winner to visit the Nation’s Capital with a chaperone.

Pizza Hut

“Use the BOOK IT!® Mobile App to set goals, track progress, and redeem rewards. During the summer months of June, July, and August, any child that meets their parent-set reading goals can earn a free Pizza Hut® single topping Personal Pan Pizza®* from participating locations.”

Head to your Local Public Library

Head to your local Library and join their Summer Reading Program! Not only do they offer a summer reading program for kids, you can also sign up your teen and yourself. Our whole family signed up at our local library. The programs and resources that your local library offers are incredible. We highly encourage taking advantage of all the great things they offer for all ages.

Suffolk County Library Tour

If you live in Suffolk County on Long Island we encourage you to take part in the Summer Library Tour.

“Between July 1st and August 31st, pick up a Summer Tour booklet at your local library. Next, visit any of the libraries listed in the back, find their Library Color Swatch, and color in the Library Color space in the booklet with the provided crayon. Once you’ve done this, show your booklet to the library staff member at the Summer Stamp Station to receive your stamp.

On the tour, you’ll see new sites, explore new libraries, and have the chance to be entered into exciting raffles!”

5 Library Stamps: One entry into a raffle for a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card.
15 Library Stamps: One entry into a raffle for a $100 Barnes & Noble gift card.
25 Library Stamps: One entry into a raffle for a Nook & $25 Barnes & Noble gift card.

Anyone who completes 25 library visits will receive a Summer Library Tour Patch!*

*While supplies last.

Once you hit each of the above milestones, show it to a library staff member and they will give you a raffle ticket to fill out.
To be included in the raffles you must show your stamps at any library by August 31st.
All raffles will be drawn on Friday, September 5th.

We hope your family has a great time reading this summer!

Let us know how you got rewarded for your reading this summer.
