Cultural celebrations abound at LICM

 Kids will be able to learn about and engage in activities related to Carnival, Purim, Lunar New Year, Holi and Eid al-Adha through music, movement, storytelling, and art.

Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) invites families to celebrate cultures from around the globe with a season of colorful festivals, lively performances, and hands-on experiences designed especially for young learners and the grownups who love them.

Through music, movement, storytelling, and art, children will discover how people around the world celebrate holidays, mark the seasons, and express joy—while having a whole lot of fun along the way.

Lunar New Year Celebration

Chinese Theatre Works
 Saturday, February 14 | Performances at 11 am & 1 pm


Ring in the Lunar New Year with an exciting performance by Chinese Theatre Works! Families will experience traditional stories, music, and movements that celebrate new beginnings and good fortune.
 Interactive cultural demonstrations will occur 30 minutes before and immediately following each performance.

Carnival Festival– A Celebration of Caribbean & Latin American Culture
 Saturday, February 28 | 11 am – 4 pm


 Feel the rhythm and embrace the color at LICM’s Carnival Festival! Inspired by Caribbean and Latin American traditions, this high-energy celebration welcomes the changing of the seasons with music, dance, and joyful cultural activities for the whole family.

Purim Celebration– Metropolitan Klezmer
 Sunday, March 1 | Performances at 11 am & 1 pm

Put on your dancing shoes and join the fun as LICM celebrates Purim with live music from Metropolitan Klezmer. Families will sing, dance, and learn about this joyful holiday through playful melodies and movement.

Holi: Festival of Colors

Sunday, April 12 | 11 am–4 pm


 Splash into spring at LICM’s Holi celebration! Families can dance, enjoy sweet treats, and explore the traditions behind this vibrant Festival of Colors through hands-on activities and colorful fun. We will be doing color throws so wear light colors that you don’t mind getting messy!

Holi is made possible with the support of the Guru Krupa Foundation.

Eid al-Adha Celebration

Celebrate togetherness at LICM’s Eid al-Adha event, where families will learn about this meaningful holiday through creative activities that highlight generosity, community, and gratitude.

With each celebration, Long Island Children’s Museum creates welcoming spaces where children can learn about the world—and their place in it—through play, discovery, and shared experiences.
