Long Island Children’s Museum Brings Special Guests, Live Music and Hands-On Discovery to April Break Week
Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) is celebrating April Break Week with a vibrant lineup of special guests, interactive workshops and cultural experiences designed to keep children engaged, inspired and exploring all week long.
With new experiences happening throughout the break, families can plan a full day—or come back again and again—to discover something different each visit.
Featured highlights include:
- Lumi’s Utopia Workshops – Monday, 4/6 and Wednesday, 4/8 — A collaborative, light-inspired art experience where children design and build imaginative worlds using glowing materials, creativity and teamwork.
- North Shore Animal League America Mutt-i-grees Furry Friends Family Social Fun & Mobile Adoption Unit! – Tuesday, 4/7 — Families can meet adoptable animals and explore hands-on activity stations focused on rescue, nurture, adopt and educate, helping children build empathy and understanding through real-world connections.
- Meet the Artist: Kelly Olshan – Friday, 4/10 – Learn about Kelly’s artwork, how she made it, and what inspires her. Create with Kelly, using materials and techniques she uses to create your own work of art during two free workshops: 1 – 2 pm and 3 – 4 pm.
- Celebrate Holi – Sunday, 4/12 — A colorful cultural celebration of spring featuring interactive experiences and vibrant traditions that highlight themes of renewal, joy and community; 11 am – 4 pm.
In addition to these special programs, guests can enjoy daily drop-in activities, artmaking, STEM exploration and full access to the Museum’s exhibits.
All week long:
- Jazzy Jellies — Make a splash by decorating your own sea jelly with colorful markers and vibrant streamers, then watch your creation come to life in a sea of movement and color.
- Pete the Cat Performances — Pete the Cat brings his groovy spirit to the Biddle family—helping organized Jimmy tackle an art class block in the most unexpected way. Their adventure sparks creativity, friendship, and a journey all the way to Paris and back!
- Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out — This sense-sational exhibit helps visitors understand the important role emotions, memory and imagination play in our everyday lives.
- Nunley’s Carousel — Step back in time and take a spin on this beautifully restored, historic carousel for a charming ride the whole family will love.
“April Break Week is all about discovery,” said Aimee Terzulli, Vice President of Program and Visitor Experience. “From meeting animals to creating art and experiencing live performances, families have the opportunity to explore new ideas and make meaningful memories together.”
