The work done by the brilliant mind of Nikola Tesla is a legacy that has been left for future generations to be inspired by. Only since 2018, the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe (TSCW) has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. “The mission of the TSCW to develop the site of Tesla’s last remaining laboratory into a transformative global science center that embraces his bold spirit of invention, provides innovative learning experiences, fosters the advancement of new technologies, and preserves his legacy in the Nikola Tesla Museum.”

I could not wait to write about our experience last weekend for a Museum Monday feature because The Wardenclyffe Science Center has hands down one of the best historical guided tours I have ever been on. Mary Diane and Sue who were our guides/ docents at Wardenclyffe were so passionate about teaching us all they knew about Nikola Tesla, this historic landmark and the science that Tesla invented during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We enjoyed their company so much and appreciate them taking the time to make our visit so enjoyable. Their love for Tesla and the work he did made our kids excited to learn more and more throughout the tour. 

When we booked our Wizard of Wardenclyffe Family Tour, we were asked a few questions so that our incredible guides Mary Diane and Sue could accommodate the age range of our family with a toddler, two teens and a Mom and Dad who wanted to learn it all. The tour exceeded our expectations! Through hands-on science activities and facts given to us about Tesla and the history of the space by both ladies; our family left SUPERCHARGED ️ to tell others about our experience so they can enjoy one of the guided tours (which you need to book ahead of time on their site) and many events they have throughout the year.

Book a tour! You will not be disappointed. My husband and I are definitely going to go back and do the Picture the Past Tour so we can dive even deeper to what we already learned with our kids by our side. 

We are so excited that the 1920s Bauer House, which has been on the site for over a century will be transformed into the Sayan Center which will eventually be open to the public (Date: TBA). Here visitors will be able to enjoy “Nikola Tesla-inspired exhibits, hands-on educational programming, and a welcoming gateway to the full Wardenclyffe experience. It was made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Eugene Sayan, the Ludwick Foundation, National Grid, Suffolk County, New York State Economic Development, and so many others who believed in this mission.”
