CSTL- Dinosaurs! and Animal Adventure Exhibit

There is a little gem in Rockville Centre called The Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL). Do you have Dinosaur fans in your family? We are excited to share the news with you that the Center for Science Teaching & Learning’s (CSTL) has expanded their Dinosaurs! and Animal Adventure exhibit, featuring new animatronic dinosaurs. The exhibit is officially open and is welcoming families and groups. Your family will enjoy their visit as they walk through the exhibits and learn while being amazed at what they see.

New to the exhibit are five animatronic dinosaurs that are located both inside and outside the exhibition hall. New additions include a mother Triceratops and baby, Citipati (CHITT-uh-PUTT-ee) and Parasaurolophus (Pear-uh-sore-AWL-oh-fus).

You will be able to see robotic and skeletal life size dinosaurs.

The girls and I loved the hands-on learning throughout the exhibits and loved seeing a Stegosaurus Plate and Real Hadrosaur Eggs. It was such an incredible experience to see all of these things in person.

Outside there was a “fossil dig” that the girls really enjoyed. This area is outside and has shade for your children to be under as they find the fossils under the rocks and sand. Your kids will be so excited as they uncover dinosaur fossils by brushing the rocks and sand aside with a paintbrush.

We also saw real animals such as rabbits, turtles, a bearded dragon, owls, snakes, an emu, goats and more.

My girls and I had the best time and encourage you to visit, as well.

Tanglewood Preserve

Located outside of the CSTL building is the Tanglewood Preserve. We took a walk and explored a little bit of the preserve but, it was a hot summer day and the girls got tired. We will definitely be going back on a less humid day to walk around the nature trail and ponds. It is so beautiful! We truly have such beautiful places to explore on Long Island and this is definitely one we recommend checking out.

As you can see on the map below the Tanglewood Preserve has a Nature Trail around a wooded area and creek and pathways around the pond areas.
