Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects® Made with LEGO® bricks exhibit is a must-see limited engagement happening through September 7, 2026. We highly recommend adding this family fun experience at Old Westbury Gardens to your Long Island 2026 Bucket List. This is the first time Long Island has this exhibit and it will be open to members TODAY and to the public tomorrow, Saturday May 16th, 2026.
We had the best time exploring the grounds and finding Sean Kenney’s LEGO® bricks creations. These beautiful pieces were not just set on the grass for you to see. Each piece was thoughtfully given a space for visitors to enjoy and see within the natural environment of Old Westbury Gardens. The kids and I were so excited every time we found one of the 17 sculptures. (Please note: The Moth Orchid is the only scultpure found inside the Westbury House).

I love that at each of the 17 sculptures you will find narratives about how many LEGO® bricks were used and how long it took to create the sculpture. Each of these pieces created by award-winning artist Sean Kenney was created with the intention of connecting to nature. The pieces you will see are to perhaps inspire you to create a garden with structures like the gardener and the wheelbarrow and lawnmower. The piece might be more educational and will help you understand a predator/prey relationship like the one you will see between the fox and the rabbits. Or you will learn how you can help conservation efforts with structures like the Monarch on Milkweed , The Hummingbird and the Cuban Painted Snail.

Wait until you see the details in person. These sculptures are amazing and inspiring to any LEGO builder of any age to create their own nature structures with thier building bricks. We had the opportunity to hang out in the Thatched Cottage and take a break and create together during the special media day we attended , yesterday. The Thatched Cottage is one of my favorite spots on the grounds. It is so magical and feels like you are in a fairytale.

We can not wait to go back. Exploring the grounds was absolutely incredible but, exploring inside The Westbury House (an early 20th century American country estate) is just as remarkable. They hold tours of the house where you can learn more about the history of the estate. RIght now they have a tour called , “Secrets of the Service Wing” that is new for 2026. This is a “60-minute guided tour you’ll be introduced to the intensive labor required to create the lifestyle experienced by the Phipps and their guests. You’ll tour the many rooms that were “behind the scenes” to create the formal dining experiences of the social peers of the Phippses in the early 20th century. You’ll go along the corridors to the butler’s pantry and silver cleaning room then descend the 17 steps to the kitchen, scullery, and wine storage rooms located on the ground floor.” I know I can not wait to go back and take the tour. The history here is just INCREDIBLE!
