Summer is here and we are crossing off all things fun to do here on Long Island off of our bucket list.
We highly recommend visiting our friends at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City and enjoying a Nunley’s Carousel ride after you tour and explore one of our favorite interactive museums on Long Island.
You probably know about the Museum of Natural History in New York City. Maybe you’ve been there.
But did you know there’s a “natural history” museum right here on Long Island?
Okay, it doesn’t have all the things you’ll find in Manhattan. But it does have an amazing ocean exhibit. Even better that the Museum of Natural History, which has a fake whale hanging from the ceiling, this place has a real 32-foot whale shark! It’s the world’s largest taxidermied (stuffed and preserved) fish! And it was caught nearby, off Fire Island, in 1935.
A great experience under the stars at the Planetarium for all ages.
As a child I remember loving the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium and I could not wait for the day to take my own children. I was so happy when I saw that they have different shows for all different ages. So even at a young age my daughters could enjoy the show.
