Long Island is home to some really incredible museums and one of our favorite local museums is the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City. The museum is fun for all ages and we just love visiting and learning about Long Island’s impactful role in aviation and space history.

Exhibits

When you visit you can explore eight exhibits that are in chronological order and feature ” 75 air and spacecraft from a hot air balloon to an actual Apollo Lunar Module. There are over 30 hands-on exhibits, a half dozen cockpits to climb into and many short films through-out the exhibits.”

We have been visiting for years and we just love having the opportunity to speak with the friendly docent volunteers, who can explain what you are looking at throughout the museum with more passion and excitement better than anyone else because they all have aerospace experience. There is nothing better than learning from someone who has first-hand knowledge and can tell you personal stories.

Your kids will LOVE all the things they can touch and play with in our very own Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island! You will love spending the day here and enjoying all it has to offer.

Planetarium & Dome Theatre

There are shows available for families with children of all ages to enjoy and experience inside this virtual reality dome. When the girls were young they loved the One World One Sky : Big Bird’s Adventure show. It is great for little ones and the planetarium is an experience all ages will enjoy.

The planetarium show is an additional charge. However, they do have a combination admission price that will save you a little bit of money. I highly recommend seeing a show it is such a great addition to your day and your family will want to see more shows in this gorgeous dome theatre.
