A great, easy recipe that is perfect for a comfort meal!
My childhood memories are having Pasta and Peas. It was one of my favorite recipes made by my Momee.
With or without parmesean cheese this meal is delicious!
Ingredients:
Elbow macaroni or Ditalini
Large can of Pasta Sauce (28 oz.)
1/3 cup of chopped onion
Red cooking wine
10 oz can of Peas
1 Bay leaf, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Crushed Red Pepper, and Parsley
Directions:
First, Boil your water for the Macaroni
Next, put your red cooking wine on the bottom of a medium sauce pan and add your onion to the wine. Let simmer on a medium heat for about 3 minutes. Now, add your tomato sauce to the sauce pan. Add all the seasonings to your taste liking (salt, pepper, garlic powder, crushed red pepper and parsley. Keep on medium heat and stir occasionally for about 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, add in your bay leaf. This will really make the sauce taste yummy.
Lower the burner to a low heat. At this time your water should be boiling and add in your macaroni to cook.
Once your macaroni is al dente pour 3/4 of the water out into a colander.
The remaining pasta and water add about a tsp of salt and mix together. Then add the macaroni back n from the colander.
In the big pot where the macaroni was cooking add the sauce from the medium sauce pan along with the bay leaf.
And then drain your can of peas and put the peas in the pot as well.
Stirring occasionally let everything simmer together on a low heat for 30 minutes longer and then serve.
Remove bay leaf before serving.
Serve in single bowls with or without parmesan cheese and enjoy!
