Northport is such a beautiful town on the north shore of Long Island.
Main Street has wonderful shops, local business and restaurants and let’s not forget the scenic water views. Northport has a lot to offer and we can not wait to tell you some of our favorite spots along with recommendations from local Northport families.
Northport Village Park
“Northport Village Park is a waterfront park with accessible pathways, two playgrounds, and three gazebos.
Playground 1 (near restrooms):
Playground 2:
Only a few steps from Main Street in the heart of the village, Northport Village Park is an outstanding place to enjoy a picnic lunch, stroll along the water, or take the kids to the playground. There is a public dock for fishing and leashed dogs are allowed in many parts of the park as well.
Visitors can travel to the park by foot, by car, or by boat. Boaters and kayakers can tie their boats up to village docks and have access to both the park and the historic village, with its wide variety of restaurants and shops. The village also hosts a number of events in the park including art and music festivals, a farmers market on summer Saturday mornings, and the light-ing of the village Christmas tree. Perhaps this park is best known as the finish to the Great Cow Harbor 10K Race and the site of the weekend long celebrations that follow. The race is usually held on the 3rd Saturday in September, and Cow Harbor Day is the following day.”

The Lewis Oliver Farm
We had the such a fun time at the Lewis Oliver Farm it was a great stop while we were exploring Northport. A true gem that we highly recommend visiting. It is a small farm but, if you love some historic sites and animals then, this is a great stop. We love the adorable names of the animals and the interaction you get to have on this volunteer run farm.
…”is a historic community landmark dating back to the mid-1800’s, and today, serves as a sanctuary and home to a small family of rescued farmed animals who are much loved by the community who enjoy visiting them and by the many volunteers who help take care of them on a daily basis. Situated on just under 3 acres, in addition to our animals, the property also features original barns; botanical and vegetable gardens; a collection of native wildlife; and a country store and education center. The Lewis Oliver Farm was jointly purchased in 2007 by the Town of Huntington and Suffolk County so as to preserve this cherished landmark. The animal care, gardens, and educational programs are entirely funded and managed by Friends of the Farm, Northport Inc. – an all-volunteer-based 501(c)3 responsible for the day-to-day operations and fundraising needed to sustain this community treasure.”

Other recommendations from local parents are:
Crab Meadow Park
Waterside Avenue
Northport, NY 11768
Phone: 631-351-3000
“One of three beaches in the Northport Area, Crab Meadow has it all. The public beach is over 1,000-feet wide and runs along the shores of the Long Island Sound. Sandbars are common at Crab Meadow and make the water a safe and fun activity for both kids and adults as the pools of water that form as a result are no more than a few feet deep. A large playground with a jungle-gym, see-saws, slides and swing, and basketball courts also make Crab Meadow the perfect beach to bring children too for fun in the sun. If visitors get hungry they can stop in La Casa Café along the boardwalk for a slice of pizza, Italian ice or ice cream and enjoy their snacks on the veranda. Families may also enjoy La Casa’s indoor restaurant. Several pavilions are situated on the beach equipped with grills for those who wish to cook their own lunch or dinner. Fishing, canoeing and kayaking is permitted at Crab Meadow.”
