Here is a fun and inexpensive way to countdown to Valentine’s Day in your home.

 

We tell my girls everyday how much we love them. But, when I saw this idea of putting hearts on your child’s door each day I knew I had to make this a tradition. For the past 3 years I have been doing this and the girls love it and I look forward to doing it each year, as well. Each day the girls look forward to waking up and seeing what message is left for them from their daddy and I. 

On February 1st it is always a surprise (my girls are still young 4 and 7 years old) so they are not paying attention to the calendar and realizing the month is beginning. So, this morning when they woke up they were so excited to see when they opened their doors that there was a heart with a message written especially for them.

I love this because it is not just an idea for little ones but, teens will love this and a spouse will love this surprise , as well. This is not something that just tells someone how much you love them but, it is also a confidence boost and I love anything that helps boost someone’s self-esteem.

All you need is:

Construction Paper

Scissors

Sharpie Markers

Scotch Tape

 

Directions: 

Make hearts on Construction Paper and cut them out. I made large red ones to write the message on and small white hearts to write the date. You don’t have to include the small white one. That is up to you. 

 

Write your message on the hearts. 

 

Hang one each day on your child’s door. They will love it.
