Third Annual NYC Teen Race of Hope

Hope for Depression Research Foundation’s Third Annual NYC Teen Race of Hope Takes Place

May 18th in New York City

Hope For Depression Research Foundation (HDRF) created the Teen Race to provide teens and their families with a screen-free active event to connect with teens and raise mental health awareness. The Race helps to reinforce connection in school communities and fight the stigma surrounding mental health. According to the CDC more than one in three high school students has experienced sadness or hopelessness, a 40% increase since 2009. 

On Race day participants can learn facts about depression and treatment and 100% of all proceeds from the race go directly to depression research. Soul Cycle Master Instructor Stacey Griffith – a mental health advocate and influencer on social mediawill serve as the Race Emceeand the DJ spinning her acclaimed playlist. 

Noelle Saldana, who attends Fieldston School in the Bronx, and Anysa Bickici who attends Dalton School in Manhattan, serve as lead student ambassadors. They will be joined by 24 student ambassadors from throughout the city, as they lead participants on a beautiful 5K (3.1) mile route along the Hudson River esplanade and public piers. Schools represented include:  Dalton, Fieldston, Chapin, Phillips Exeter Academy, Brooklyn Technical, Lucy Beckam, Marymount New York, Trevor Day School, Newtown, Riverdale Kingsbridge, Spence School, West Essex, Nightingale-Bamford, Stuyvesant, Greenwich, and Dwight Englewood.

The Race will start at 10:00 AM and cost $17.50 for students and $27.50 for adults. 100% of revenues from the Race will go to groundbreaking research into the root causes of depression in the brain and new and better treatments.
