Nunley’s Carousel is such a Long Island treasure with so much history. I highly recommend taking a ride with your family . I just love the artistic details throughout the Carousel. The horses, chariots and the one lion are each unique with beautiful details and vibrant colors.
If you ride one of the horses on the outer perimeter you can try and collect rings like my daughter did (but, you must return them after the ride is over) for others to enjoy.
A great place to hold a birthday party or private event.
Nunley’s Carousel will be OPEN Fridays through Sundays, 12:30 to 3:00 PM (last ride at 2:45 PM)

From the Long Island Children’s museum website:
“Originally installed in 1912 on the Brooklyn waterfront in Canarsie’s Golden City Park, the carousel—affectionately known as “Murphy’s”—delighted visitors for 26 years. In 1950, it found a new home in Baldwin, NY, where it reopened as Nunley’s Carousel and became a cherished part of childhood memories for three generations.
After Nunley’s Amusement Park closed in 1995, Nassau County purchased the historic ride to preserve its legacy. In 2009, this rare treasure—one of only three surviving carousels crafted by the famed Stein & Goldstein—was carefully restored and relocated to Museum Row in Garden City.
Today, the Long Island Children’s Museum proudly operates Nunley’s Carousel in partnership with Nassau County, keeping the magic alive for new generations of riders.”
Historical treasures like this beautiful carousel need to remain so we can enjoy the history in the present and feel connected to something that is over 100 years old. Imagine how many great grandparents and grandparents and parents rode this carousel as children and now get to see their great grandchildren or grandchildren and children ride it, too.
Aghhh I just love the magical memories it holds.
