Help a fellow Momee friend in need when they need it most
Take them a Meal is an amazing website created by a Momee just like us!
Creator Adina E. Bailey says: “I had very young children when we created the site, and I loved that I was able to help my friends in the midst of my busy household. “
We all can relate to this statement and that’s why I love this site and the creators selflessness in creating it and I thank her so much for it.
I was introduced to this site by a fellow Momee friend when a couple of other local Momee friends of ours were in need of some extra help ( whether it was a new baby, time issues, or sickness ). What I love about this site is how convenient and easy it makes it for all of us fellow Momees to see who is bringing what meal on what day and time. If you want you can prepare your own meals and bring them to your Momee friend in need or you can order out at their favorite local spots and have it delivered to them or the site even has care packages you can order from the Take them a meal site to be delivered to their home.
This site is unbelievable and the creator Adina E. Bailey is even more incredible. So incredible I had to ask her some questions and her responses were so touching I had to share with all of you.
1. What made you start this site? Was there a friend in need or did you need the help first?
“I created the site to help my dearest friend, Rachel. Five years ago, she had a sudden heart event, and was in a coma for several days. We did not know what life would look like for her after that point, and we knew her family would need care for many months. So many people love Rachel and her family, and at the time, they were all telephoning me to see how they could help. Meals were the most obvious answer, but they needed to be spaced out to be helpful. With my friend, Scott, we created an online calendar, where people could sign up to bring a meal and see the other details (phone numbers, directions for drop off, what other people are bringing, etc.). “
2. Do you imagine that this site would reach so many people and become as successful as it has?
“We NEVER anticipated the rapid growth of the site. Even now when we think about it, it’s unbelievable. We are extremely grateful knowing the site is helping others in the same way it allowed us to help our friend Rachel and her family. “
3. Was there a time in your past where you wish this site was available before you came up with it?
” I remember coordinating new baby meals for my friends about 10 years ago. The process involved leaving phone messages and waiting to hear back from people. I didn’t even have a cell phone at the time, so I would check my answering machine when I came home and typically everyone was requesting the same date. Creating a meal schedule before the site definitely took much more time, but it has increased my appreciation for the site. “
