Science fun with Apple seeds

It is apple season and we are having so much fun learning about apples and eating them too, of course. We always love doing at home science experiments and are excited to answer if apple seeds will dance when you put them in a cup filled 1/3 of the way with vinegar and add a 1/4 tsp of baking soda?

What do you think? Yes or No?

What you will need for this experiment is:

White Vinegar, Baking Soda, 2 apples (you can snack on the apples because all we need is the seeds)

Snack on the apple and cut the seeds out of the core of the apple.

Fill a cup with 1/3 vinegar and have a 1/4 tsp of baking soda ready as well as, 8 to 10 apple seeds.

Let’s see if your prediction is correct about the apple seeds “dancing” is correct.

The girls are excited to show you how it went for them…

But, wait…If you add double the amount of baking soda to the 1/3 cup of vinegar and apple seeds things get a bit more exciting! My youngest daughter’s face expressions during this video make me laugh so hard and makes doing these at home science experiments so much more memorable and fun.

Watch the video…

We hope your kids enjoy this experiment as much as mine did. It is a lot of fun.

**Also, if you don’t have apple seeds you can use raisins. **
