Happy Friday! I want to share with you all some exciting news here at our house – I am pregnant with baby #2! I am a few weeks into my second trimester, and I have seriously enjoyed leaving the exhaustion and morning sickness behind with the first trimester. I felt as though I was hibernating for the last 2 months, but with all of the new energy that has kicked in over the last few weeks I have been able to get back into my fitness routine.
When I lived and worked in the city I started running. In the beginning I wasn’t particularly fond of running, but it was the most convenient way I could fit exercise into my unpredictable day. After a few months, I began to enjoy it, and a few months after that, if I missed more than a day or two, I craved it. When I found out I was pregnant with Sloane I continued running, up until around 6 months when the bouncing and pounding became to uncomfortable on my growing belly and joints. I did continue to walk around 3 miles a day, not because I was so motivated, but because that was my commute from the train station to and from my office. I also did yoga throughout the entire pregnancy, and I think all of these forms of exercise helped both in labor and childbirth, as well as with getting my body back after Sloane was born.
What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think of Valentine’s Day? Love, hearts, cards, red? For me, it’s definitely chocolate! As a kid I loved waking up to find that little red heart full of chocolates waiting for me on the dining room table, and the truth is, I wouldn’t be disappointed to wake up to one now. The other side of that truth is, I know I would eat the whole box. Mike on the other hand, has incredible self control and he can make a small box of chocolates last for months. That never happens though, because after 3 days I consider it to be fair game and it’s gone before he knows what happened!
So this year I decided to make him some homemade chocolates.
I have always loved to read. When I was younger I could get lost in a book, losing days (and sleep) to get to the ending. The ending was often bittersweet for me; I wanted so badly to know what was going to happen, but often felt sad that it was over.
I love to read all kinds of books: novels, non-fiction adventure, books on politics, history, economics, genetics, seriously you name it, I’ll read it. In college I would go to the bookstore, pick a section, and sit on the floor, and spend hours picking out a new book.
I don’t know about you but, a New Year means a new list of goals my husband and I have come up with together.
These goals are improvements we want to make in the upcoming year not only for ourselves but, also for our family. Yes, I know it is almost February but, you do not have to put the goals you came up with aside and wait for January 1st of next year. Let’s not be so hung up on the day of the week or the start date. Let’s be honest any day you decide to make positive changes in your life is the perfect day to start.
