Since I was a little girl I loved visiting the South Shore Nature Center. I grew up on the south shore in Oakdale and I went here often to go for nature walks. If you take Bayview Avenue more south you will end up at the East Islip Marina. Around this area you will see a lot of deer.
The Nature Center is beautiful and there are great trails to explore.
When you first enter the Nature Center parking lot you will see the Butterfly Garden on your left.
When you are looking around during your walk look for any fallen nuts and try to see if you can name them.
Not only will you see fallen nuts, leaves, rocks and sticks but you will also see lots of footprints and some may be from wildlife of Long Island. Here are some you may see:
I think the South Shore Nature Center is a great place to visit!
