Willy Wonka makes , Everything he bakes, Satisfying and delicious. And every production that the Ovations Dance Repertory Company puts on under the artistic direction of Orlando Pena is fantastic. The cast of Willy Wonka was a group of wonderful, talented children whose energy and excitement made for an amazing show.

Being a Willy Wonka Junior Production the show was colorful and the music was fantastic. This was perfect for a family theatre production. What the audience really enjoyed was having the Oompa Loompas out in the audience dancing and singing. I loved seeing the interaction between the audience and the cast during a few musical numbers of the show. It was a wonderful addition to the show that the kids in the audience were very excited to see.

Each performer was wonderful in their own way. The characters we know from the movie such as: Charlie, Grandpa Joe, the Bucket family members, Oompa Loompas, Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, Mr. Slugworth and the parents of the kids were very recognizable in the way the cast performed their roles.  I have said it in the past and I will say it again the talent of the kids who perform in these shows deserve a standing ovation that they remember all of their lines and dance moves to make for a wonderful production while continuing to do well in school and any other extra-curricular activities they do.

BRAVO… BRAVO to all of you!

Ben Hefter shined in his role and lead us into the eccentric and magical chocolate factory as Willy Wonka the way only a candy man can.

“The candy man can cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good
And the world tastes good cause the candy man thinks it should”.

I loved the movie as a kid and the way that Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Junior theatre production is put together it’s positive message is very apparent. The message of staying positive and the reward of telling the truth is very much conveyed to the audience in the one hour and fifteen minute production. The song “Think Positive” is the perfect song to reference when things get bad or go wrong to continue to think positive. The song is sung by Charlie when he opens his fifth Willy Wonka Bar and inside is the GOLDEN TICKET!- here is when my three year old Mia got so excited and smiled so big for Charlie because he finally got the ultimate prize of being the last of the total five tickets to tour the magical chocolate factory.

In the end of the show the message of telling the truth and being honest shows good character and displaying these characteristics will have the possibility of your dreams coming true so much greater. Like when Charlie has his candy dreams come true with his Grandpa Joe.
