What an exciting time of year it is! We love to celebrate the season with Holiday traditions, and we certainly won’t let the cold weather stop us from enjoying the outdoors. From ice skating to light shows, beautifully decorated homes dazzling with lights, there is definitely something for the whole family to enjoy!
Enjoy the 20th Annual Charles Dickens Festival this weekend (December 5 – 6, 2015), throughout the Village of Port Jefferson. The festivities will kick off TODAY at 11:00 AM, December 5th and will conclude on Sunday afternoon with a Parade of Puppets and ceremony.
“This weekend, the Village of Port Jefferson will be transformed into a Victorian virtual reality as the town celebrates its annual salute to Charles Dickens. In honor of its 20th anniversary, the town and Art Council have added some new features.
In addition to the roaming characters like Father Christmas, Scrooge, and Dickens Mayor, there will also be a cappella performers, Nutcracker performances and the a debut of “Let There be Light” light show that will be projected onto the backdrop of the Village Hall. This light show will run each weekend from now until December 20th (Saturday and Sunday, 6:00-7:30, on the half hour for 15 min of dazzling fun). Festival goers will also enjoy visiting the Harbor Master Building, which will be transformed into Cookie Land, where kids will be able to decorate cookies.
The Village Center will host the Festival of Trees (December 5th through December 21s). Upon entering the Village Center you will be greeted by a whimsical display of snowflakes, with the entire 2nd floor devoted to a magical presentation of trees.”
Adjacent to the center is The Rinx, which has been transformed into an ice rink.
The Village of Port Jefferson is just one of Long Island’s treasures, with its beautifully decorated store fronts and village walks, you will definitely get into the Holiday Spirit this weekend!
