We celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in remembrance of all who have served our country and have helped protect our freedoms. We thank all those men and women who have lost their lives, who have served or currently serve our country. God bless you and your families for your bravery and courage to protect all of us who proudly call America, HOME!

In this post we have local events, parades and patriotic ideas to make your Memorial Day celebrations more festive this weekend. What are you planning on doing with your family and friends?

1. Legends of Airpower – 75 Years of Thunder

Memorial Day Weekend May 27th-30th at the American Airpower Museum. Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the P-47 Thunderbolt and the 75 years of Republic Aviation Aircraft produced on the very same field we are located at. There will be daily warbird flight operations all weekend, AT-6, and WACO UPF-7 rides available. In addition the B-17 Yankee Lady will return this year for their annual flight experience rides, and almost all of the Jones Beach Air Show Aircraft will be based on our flight line and at our airport and will be viewable from our display ramp including the US Navy Blue Angels and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

2. Freedom Fairs Carnival and Music Festival

Memorial Day weekend from Friday May 27th to Monday May 30th. The fair will include amusement rides produced by Newton Shows, Food and drinks provided by Dover Gourmet, and entertainment and drug abuse prevention and awareness produced by Tutor Central and several organizations.There will be many games rides food and fun for the whole family there is no admission fee to this event. This event is held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow

3. Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach

The Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach is one of the largest events on Long Island. Kicking off every Memorial Day Weekend, this event attracts thousands of Long Islanders to our beautiful South Shore beaches to celebrate the beginning of summer, and shine a light on military families as well as honoring those who serve our country.
