The Nassau County Museum of Art is a beautiful museum on Long Island that I highly recommend visiting with your family.

I love introducing my kids to the arts at an early age. There is so much to see indoors and outdoors at this beautiful museum located in Roslyn, NY.

Formal Gardens

The formal gardens are stunning. A beautiful place for bridal photos and other special occasions. We loved the maze like gardens and the gorgeous trellis.

Outdoor Sculptures / Trails

Put your walking shoes on and get ready to explore the trails and see all the sculptures throughout the grounds.

True Colors: On Exhibition Through November 4

“Nothing in art is more powerful than color. From Matisse to Mark Rothko and Frank Stella, and onward to the huge Color Field canvases and pulsing neon sculptures of today, color as a means of expression is the keynote for this wildly exuberant show.”

The girls were in awe as they walked around the museum seeing such beautiful pieces of art. We were welcomed by a wonderful group of people as we entered the museum. They gave the girls the sheet seen below (like a scavenger hunt) to look for the art shown throughout the galleries. They loved it and it was a great part of the experience. Whenever they found it they were so excited. As a parent I loved that the kids were included in this wonderful experience and welcomed to do so.

The Exhibit was filled with vibrant colors and the girls loved it.

The neon room was one of our favorites.

The Manes Family Art & Education Center

The Manes Family Art & Education Center is one of the first buildings you will see when you enter the museum road. It “provides a learning space committed to engaging members of our community in visual art experiences by providing a gateway to the creative process. This newly refurbished building offers a dynamic and inspiring environment in which audiences of all ages and abilities can find creative engagement through a variety of activities, projects, and talks.”

How awesome is the artwork outside the building?

Inside there is a gallery that is also showcasing works that go along with the True Colors exhibit that is in the main building.

Just outside the building are two beautiful painted horses. I am in awe of their beauty.

You will absolutely love this museum. We highly recommend visiting.
