We love supporting all things Long Island! One of our favorite places to visit is the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. It is a great place to learn and have fun while seeing so many incredible exhibits. When you visit you will “Explore over 150,000 square feet featuring 75 air and spacecraft from a hot air balloon to an actual Apollo Lunar Module and learn about Long Island’s role in all of this incredible history.”

We encourage you to shop on their site and support this fantastic museum. There are so many great gift items to choose from. Best part is your purchase supports the education and preservation programs at the Cradle of Aviation with the purchase of a t-shirt, mug, hoodie or face mask.

50% of your purchase is tax-deductible.

An Important Message from the Board of Directors

To The Cradle of Aviation Community,

We hope this finds you and your family coping well with this very challenging year. Challenging is probably an understatement for what we have all had to deal with in 2020. We also want to thank you for your continuing support of the museum.

At the Cradle, like any not-for-profit institution, we have struggled to stay afloat. Despite not being able to reopen until July we have been able to offer a variety of virtual programs that serve to entertain and educate. In fact, we have made contact with school groups locally, as well as from around the world, interested in the museum’s collection. Virtual museum tours, educator-led live programs, and events like “Spooky Science Night”, have kept the museum in front of thousands of people.

Since our opening in July, we have experienced a slow but steady increase in attendance as visitors become more comfortable with going indoors. The Cradle benefits from having large open spaces and we have created an extremely safe environment for everyone that includes constant cleaning and social distancing throughout the museum. We have taken the steps necessary to reduce our costs through fewer days of operation and staff reductions. But with all of our revenue streams being affected, we need your help.

This year we are asking for everyone that cares about the museum to give as much as you can so we can continue to preserve and protect this unique legacy that is the Cradle of Aviation. Your support will not only help us survive but will help us thrive in the “new normal” that we are all facing.

Thank you for your help and our best wishes to you and your family for the upcoming holidays and we hope, most importantly, that you stay safe.

Sincerely,

Michael Stromer, Board Chair

Penelope Kokkinides, Vice-Chair

Andrew Parton,  President

I’m Anne

I love to write about all things Long Island and family. I was born and raised here and as a local, I want to share all the great things I have loved about living here since I was a child. Our community is filled with great people, amazing local businesses, beautiful nature sites, scenic beaches, craveable restaurants and so much more. My husband and I knew when we had our first child that I would become a stay-at-home mom. Thanks to my love for sharing all the things I love about Long Island, my blog was created in 2013.

We are dedicated to linking families and businesses together for the benefit of all.
I hope you enjoy all that Momee Friends offers whether it is a smile, craft, recipe, friendly advice, or an event for your family to attend together in a safe and creative environment.

I hope you enjoy my blog and find it informative! Please feel free to comment and share your experiences with all your fellow Momee Friends! I want this blog to be for all of us and I want it to be an enjoyable site that you absolutely love to visit!
