Looking After Your Mental Health As A Busy Mum

Being a mum can be a really hard job sometimes. You feel like you are on call 24/7 and never get holidays or a day off. And this is especially true if you have multiple kids. While it is a hard job, it is also one of the best jobs and you would never change it but being a busy Mum can be stressful and looking after your kids, your family and sometimes even having a job as well. You may forget to look after yourself. A lot of mums fail to put their interests first and neglect mental health. It isn’t something that they mean to do, it just happens until they find themselves in a burnout or struggling mentally. It is however very important to look after your mental health, especially as a mum as you can’t pour from an empty cup and need to be in a good headspace to be a better parent and feel better in yourself.

Find Time For Meditation And Reflection

This may not seem like an important thing to do when you’re a parent, but it can make all the difference in the world. By spending some time meditating and focusing on your mental health. It can help you start your day better. Reflection is also a great thing to do as it can help you appreciate what you have in life. By thinking each day about what you’re grateful for and what has gone well that day or even what has gone bad but how you can make it better in the future can help you feel better mentally. finding time is one of the more difficult things to do if you can get up earlier, try setting an alarm about an hour before your kids get up. You can then use this hour just for yourself. Don’t use it to get things ready for school, simply just use it to make you feel better and make you feel prepared for the day.

Make Time For Fun

Another thing that can affect parents is finding time to do things you enjoy when you have other people relying on you and a house to run, spending some time doing something you enjoy is the last thing on your mind. But it is a great way to help your mental health as if you like exercising, you could join an exercise class, something like dance would be great and you can use this as your time each week just to recharge and let loose. You also could try things like games, whether that’s console games, puzzles, or something more adventurous like roulette. You also just simply have a hobby that you might want to dedicate a bit more time to. It could be something that could also be used for the family so if you like knitting you could knit a scarf for winter for your children. If you like baking, you could make a cake each week for everyone to enjoy.
