Groundhog Fun on Long Island

The Groundhog Traditions will begin this Friday on Groundhog’s Day when our local groundhogs make their public predictions.

Our two locally famous adorable furry predictors are Holtsville Hal and Malverne Mel. Will there be six more weeks of Winter? Hopefully the weather will be good so we can find out!

Malverne Mel-

“Enjoy music by the Banjo Rascals, photos with Mel, a petting zoo, hot chocolate and donut holes! A light breakfast will be served immediately following at Crossroads Farm.”

1. Groundhog Day Shadow Puppetry

February 3, 2018 @ 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm     February 4, 2018 @ 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Construct your own shadow puppets and make them dance for your friends.

Admission:  $5 per person.

Members and children under 1 are always FREE!

2. Searching for Sweetbriar Sam – a Groundhog Adventure

Come find out if Sweetbriar Sam is planning to hibernate for another 6 weeks or predict an early spring.   We will have a fun scavenger hunt to learn some facts about groundhogs, play with shadows, and meet some other animal hibernators and animals with different solutions for cold weather.  Make a fun groundhog craft to take home.

When: Sunday, February 4, 1pm

Who: Families

How Much: $10/child and $5 for adults, $2 discount for scouts
