Spring Sugar Cookies

12 more days till spring but thanks to Daylight Savings Time I am already in a Spring State of Mind.

I decided to make colorful spring color cookies and shapes with Mia and these colorful cookies are delicious.

All you need is:

2 packages of a Sugar Cookie Mix ( I used Betty Crocker)

Food Coloring

Sprinkles (optional)

Directions:

Pre-heat your oven to 375 Degrees F

Then, mix your sugar cookie mix together (following the directions on the package). Adding a stick of butter and an egg makes to a mix then making the cookie dough from scratch makes this step super easy and gives us more time to create : )

Separate the Dough into 5 large balls and add a different color of food coloring to each ball of dough.

Whether or not you want to use sprinkles is up to you. I added some shimmer with these fun color spring colored sprinkles.

Now, let the creative fun begin. You can mistake this colorful sugar cookie dough for play dough. So we decided to make spring inspired shapes using the colorful dough.

After each creation we laid the cookies on our ceramic cookie sheet.

Mia told me what shapes made her think of Spring which were flowers, caterpillar, sun, balloon, butterfly and colorful hearts.

And just mixing the colors together in a ball made these cookies look so cool.

Mia loves sprinkles and never forgets to add them to our cookies.

Place your cookies in the oven for about 15 minutes. Do the handy-dandy toothpick test to make sure they are cooked through thoroughly.

Mia thinks it is so funny how big the cookie designs get. You lose how perfect the designs looked prior to baking. But, the most important thing here was the creative fun we had making them.

Mia loved making them and showing off her designs but I have to say I think she enjoyed eating them just as much.
