Staying Hydrated with B. Fit Long Island

We all know keeping hydrated is important. Water is optimal.  I know many people think water is bland and need some more flavor. Juices are often high in sugar and calories.

Here are some healthy ideas to keep you and your kids hydrated.

  1. Coconut water

  2. Homemade fruit and vegetable juices

  3. Milk

  4. Homemade smoothies

Here are a few quick recipes if you want to go the homemade route.

*Cool Coconut Drink

3 cups coconut water

1 cup water

½ cup fresh lime juice

¼ tsp salt

2 tbsp raw honey

Directions: Mix all and serve chilled

*Melon Berry Juice

3 cups watermelon

1 cup strawberries

1 tsp lemon

1 tbsp honey

Directions: Blend all and serve chilled

*Tropical Smoothie

1 banana

1 cup strawberries

½ cup mango

1 cup milk (cow, nut or coconut milk)

Directions: Blend all and serve chilled.

The kids will love trying these delicious smoothies, especially if they helped make them!

“I always prefer homemade smoothies if I have the time. This way I know exactly what is going into my drink.”, says Erika Burdick.
