2018 SEASON OF FIELD STATION: DINOSAURS AT OVERPECK COUNTY PARK GETS UNDERWAY MAY 26  FEATURING NEW SHOWS, NEW ACTIVITIES, NEW TRAILS  AND EVEN A NEW DINOSAUR!

The 2018 season of Field Station: Dinosaurs in Leonia, New Jersey begins Saturday, May 26 with new surprises for dinosaur fans of all ages including the latest addition to the park’s dinosaur roster – Spinosaurus!  Just minutes from New York City on the banks of Bergen County’s scenic Overpeck Creek surrounded by natural woods providing plenty of shade, the Field Station offers visitors an exciting and educational experience with over 30 life-size, realistic animatronic dinosaurs, over 40 live shows, games, workshops, interactive activities and special guests.  Families have come to love Field Station: Dinosaurs for its wide range of quality programming. Ticket prices begin at only $15.50.

The 2018 season features everyone’s favorite elements along with several brand-new ones. Junior paleontologists can dig for fossils in the Paleontologists’ Laboratory and search for dinosaur buried treasures at the Fossil Dig Site.  We all know about Jurassic World, but Hollywood’s first dinosaur superstar was really “Gertie The Dinosaur,” and families can watch this groundbreaking 1914 cartoon in the Dark Tent.  Participate in exciting interactive events such as Mesozoic Concentration and lead your team to victory in the T-Rex Games, the Field Station’s original Olympic-style competition for all ages.  Limbo, watusi and swing along with the Dinosaur Troubadour for the hilarious toe-tapping, feet-stomping “Dinosaur Dance Party.” And don’t miss the popular live show, “T-Rex Feeding Frenzy,” where the audience uses the Scientific Method to help the Dinosaur Wrangler study the eating habits of everyone’s favorite carnivore.  Over 400 feet of new shaded trails have been added to the Field Station, making for the perfect place to explore and discover.

A completely new live show has been added for 2018.  “Dinosaur Daredevil! Archeopteryx Cleared For Take Off!” is an exciting black light musical puppet show about the origins of animal flight.  Giant prehistoric bugs buzz, frightening pteranodons soar and one brave little dinosaur takes to the sky in this fast, funny show that will entertain and educate explorers of all ages.  It was directed by the Field Station’s own Lead Puppeteer Chris Palmieri and features his original puppet creations.  Palmieri is also the puppeteer of the character Snug on NBC Universal’s “Sprout House.”

Perhaps the “biggest” addition to the Field Station this year is the arrival of Spinosaurus.  Winner of the Field Station’s 2016 Dinosaur Election, Spinosaurus was chosen by junior dinosaur fans to be the newest spectacular species represented in the park.  Spinosaurus was first discovered in Egypt and was the biggest of all the carnivores, even larger than the mighty T-Rex!   

Each Saturday in July and August will feature the popular “Super Stars of Science” series of special guest experts in the fields of paleontology, geology, puppetry, paleo artistry and more.  Birthday party packages are available in the new air-conditioned IKEA® birthday tent with treats provided by local bakery, Mr. Cupcake.  The season extends into the fall and includes the popular “Dinosaurs After Dark” program in September and October.

Advance tickets are $15.50 for the Day Pass and $20.50 for the Explorer’s Pass.  Tickets at the Box Office are $16.75 for Day Passes and $21.75 for the Explorer’s Pass. The park is open rain or shine from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays from May 26 through June 24 and Tuesday through Sunday from June 26 through September 2.  The park is closed on Mondays except Memorial Day and Labor Day.  Fall hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays from September 22 through November 11.  Dinosaurs After Dark takes place from 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays from September 28 through October 27.  The park will be open Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day.
